Elephant Rocks State Park in Missouri

We toured the Elephant Rocks State Park in Belleview, Mo. a few weeks ago. There are several huge granite rocks to climb around on. Some look like elephants. The largest is 27 feet tall, 35 feet long and 17 feet wide. Weighs 680 tons. Granite that came from the old quarry can be seen on some of the piers of the Eads Bridge in St. Louis. As well as several paving stones on the levee, downtown streets and on several St. Louis buildings. Even the columns on the Governor's Mansion in Jefferson City contain this granite. There is also a 1800's ruin of an engine house that used to repair the trains. (have photos posted) Great place to take the kids for a fun day of climbing, walking the trails and taking pictures .All day fun!! Restroom and picnic area.
