Turner's Mill and a Village called Surprise

Another spot on Oregon County Mo. is Turner's Mill and a village called Surprise. A spring boiling from beneath a rock prompted Clay Turner to haul a 25 foot tall steel mill wheel to power a grist mill, a saw mill and to supply electric for the town of Surprise. The only pieces of the mill that remains is the wheel which was installed in 1915. The area has a boat launch into 11 Point River, waterfalls, beautiful cliffs and a picnic area. Enjoy
